The 2026 Australian Longboard Titles produced a remarkable Constable family double at Cabarita Beach, with Josh Constable winning his 10th Open Men’s crown after son Jive captured the Under-18 Men’s title.
Josh Constable reaches title number 10
The 2006 world longboard champion scored 15.07 in the Open Men’s final, defeating Clinton Guest on 11.77. William Crowe placed third and Lennix Currie fourth. The victory also secured Constable a place in the 2027 Irukandjis team.
Earlier, Jive Constable won his third Australian junior title with 12.63, completing a rare father-son national-title double on the same day.
Luana Matthies wins the Open Women’s crown
Fifteen-year-old Luana Matthies responded to a narrow defeat in the junior final by winning the Open Women’s title. Her 13.40 total beat Victorian Rori Reyntjes on 11.26, with Emma Perrier third and Kirra Molnar fourth. The result earned Matthies selection for the 2027 ISA World Longboard Championship.
Poppy Wright had earlier claimed her third Under-18 Women’s national title, edging Matthies 11.50 to 10.90 after producing the final’s best single-wave score.
Conditions and significance
Sunshine, light winds and clean Cabarita waves provided the platform for both traditional lines and high-performance longboarding. More than 200 competitors attended the wider titles across divisions stretching from Under-18 to Over-70.
